Similar to second semester of the 2015-16 school year, junior and senior high students will have their school-provided computers removed if they are currently earning one or more Fs. These students will have restricted use of computers during the school day, but will only be allowed to take home a computer if prearranged and approved by a teacher. The removal is for a one week term, and will remain until the F(s) are raised to a higher grade.
North Mahaska saw great success in the policy last school year, witnessing a sharp decline in the number of students who were earning one or more Fs. We expect the best from all of our students, and strongly believe the computer removal policy aligns students with this expectation. We want to motivate and encourage them to use their computers wisely and effectively!
Thank you for your patience as we begin implementation of this policy, Monday September 12.
