What to do in the case of Inclement Weather and School Changes?
North Mahaska Community Schools will provide information on school closings or early dismissals due to poor weather conditions. School closings and early dismissals will be announced via text message (for those registered) as well as over the following stations:

How can I get a senior citizen pass?
Senior citizen passes will be given again this year if you sign up at the high school office located at 2163 135th St, New Sharon. Contact the high school office for more information at 637-4187. You must be 65 years of age and live in the NM district or own property in the NM district. Thank you for supporting North Mahaska!
How can I get a senior calendar?
NM Senior school year calendars may be purchased for $10.00 and can be picked up in the school office.

What area does North Mahaska Schools serve?
The North Mahaska Community School District, located in New Sharon, Iowa, has 530 students enrolled in grades Pre-K – 12 as of July 31, 2015. In 1956, the communities of Barnes City, Lacey, Taintor, and New Sharon joined to form North Mahaska Community School. In 1997, a bond issue was passed to build a new elementary school. The North Mahaska Elementary School was completed summer of 1999. It is located to the east of the North Mahaska Jr. Sr. High and connects to the Jr. Sr. High School by a hallway. A day care and 4-year-old preschool were added in 2008.
