Spanish Foreign Language
Secondary School Foreign Language Department
Our Mission
As part of cultural development, North Mahaska students are offered a course in Spanish. They are provided a positive learning environment in which to communicate while learning about different cultures in Spanish speaking countries. Learning a new language can be challenging so students are encouraged to participate in a variety of speaking activities as they become global citizens together. Spanish students can find extra support online with grammar essentials or meet with their Spanish instructor before or after school.
Rachel Martin
Encouraging global citizens, Rachel Martin teaches 7-12th grade Spanish here at North Mahaska. Her goal is to expose students to different cultures in addition to learning a new language. Rachel creates a positive learning environment where students can practice speaking the language and is readily available to assist students one on one before or after school. Rachel has a Master’s Degree in English as a Second Language and has been teaching for over 15 years. She enjoys spending time with family and friends, traveling, sewing and cooking.
