Providing students with cutting edge technology in a personal school setting, our industrial technology department at North Mahaska offers a hands-on experience. Students will identify, analyze, and solve broadly-defined technology problems. Many technology tools are used within the classroom such as a CNC Plasma cutter, 40 watt laser, 3D printers, full Auto desk suite and various design programs. Students are encouraged to explore a variety of classes in the disciplines of wood working, welding, blueprint, machine processes and more.
Teaching at North Mahaska since 2011, Ryan Groom enjoys using hands-on activities with his students and encouraging them to be creative. Along with his deep love for coaching wrestling, Ryan also coaches boys and girls golf and helps with Junior High Baseball. As the Activities Director, he can be seen at almost every event at North Mahaska. His wife is a nurse as well as a school teacher here at NM. Together they have four children who attend North Mahaska Schools.
