North Mahaska continued its hot hitting on the baseball and softball fields Monday with a sweep of Tri-County. The girls used a pair of homeruns to win 7-0 and Sam Terpstra hit a single and double to drive in three runs as the boys topped the Trojans 16-0.

North Mahaska girls scored two runs in each of the first two innings then added three more in the sixth to secure the victory. Regan Grewe and Zoe Deucore each hit homers to drive in two runs. The dingers were the only extra base hits for either team. Grewe was the only Warhawk with more than one hit. Deucore and Cali Sampson each stole two bases and Jalayna Shipley swiped one.

Morgan Hudson returned to the circle after pitching twice Saturday to add another win to her record. She scattered four hits, all singles, walked one and struck out seven.

NM improves to 10-8 on the season and hosts Colfax-Mingo Wednesday and Lynnville-Sully Friday.

Terpstra, who hit two homeruns in his last outing, again led the hitting. Ty Kelderman hit a single and triple to drive in a pair of runs and Dodge Duke hit two singles with a pair of RBIs.

North Mahaska tallied four runs in the bottom of the first and added two in the second before a 10-run onslaught in the bottom of the third to end the game early.

Duke’s hitting helped his own cause on the mound. He allowed three hits and walked a batter and struck out five. Blake Readshaw and Kelderman were each credited with a stolen base.

North Mahaska (11-4) will travel to Colfax-Mingo Wednesday in another key South Iowa Cedar League contest.
