North Mahaska went north to Montezuma Aug. 31 for the Monte Tourney and even though playing tough, ended the day with one match victory. The Warhawks opened with Gladbrook-Reinbeck falling 21-13-21-11. They matched up with Class 3A Williamsburg and lost 21-9, 21-5. NM pushed South Iowa Cedar League foe HLV to three games before falling, 21-17, 21-10, 15-10. North Mahaska topped GMG 21-19 and 21-15 in the final match.
Stats for all four matches were unavailable at press time. Through two matches, Layla Hargis was credited with five kills, four digs and a service ace. Kaitlyn Van Donselaar had two aces with three digs and two assist. Jalayna Shipley earned five digs.
