Eddyville-Blakesburg-Fremont dominated the boards Monday to post an 89-77 victory over North Mahaska. EBF (17-2) pulled down 36 rebounds and took 16 steals while NM had 24 rebounds.
EBF had to rally after North Mahaska jumped out to a 24-16 first quarter lead as three Warhawks accounted for five 3-pointers. The Warhawks were held scoreless for nearly four minutes until Sean
Knockel’s shot was called good after EBF’s second goal tending call at the 3 minutes 26 mark. EBF led 33-28 at that point and expanded the lead to 40-33 at halftime. Each team drained four treys in the third quarter, but NM could not overcome the deficit.
Lane Harmon hit five shots beyond the arc for North Mahaska (16-5) and finished with 24 points. Nash Smith hit three and scored 18 followed by Ethan Huffman with 13 and Braden Steel with 10.
Steel was credited with eight rebounds and eight assists.
EBF (17-2) was led by Brooke Moore with 27 and Ethan Davis with 25. Davis had 11 rebounds.
