North Mahaska was clinging to a mere two-point lead with four minutes to play Monday when Regan Grew grabbed a rebound and scored six points in a span of two minutes to power the Warhawks past PCM 51-41. Grewe received help from her sophomore teammate Breckyn Schilling who finished with a double-double, 12 points and 11 rebounds.
Neither team could gain more than a five point advantage. The first half was a turnover fest and ended with a 14-11 advantage for host PCM. Schilling hit a pair of free throws at the halfway point of the second period, but the Warhawks would not score again until after halftime. A Grewe trey with six seconds left in the third period gave NM a 26-23 lead entering the final period.

The teams swapped leads throughout the fourth quarter. PCM freshman Tori Lindsay pulled the Mustangs to a 38-36 deficit before the wheels fell off the Mustang wagon.
North Mahaska’s Sydney Andersen was fouled, and she hit the first of a 1-and-1, missed the second, but Grewe darted in and grabbed the rebound. The Warhawks worked the ball around and Grewe hit a bucket. A steal led to another Grew basket then she hit 3-of-4 free throws to put the Warhawks in control 46-39. From there NM hit 5-of-8 foul shots to seal the victory.
Grewe finished with 20 points and nine rebounds. Kayla Readshaw hit for six points and Andersen finished with five.
Maddie Reed led PCM with 12 points while Lindsay chipped in 10 points, seven rebounds, four stelas and three assists.
North Mahaska travels to Montezuma Tuesday and Tri-County Friday.
