North Mahaska wrapped up the regular wrestling season with a triple win at Moravia Tuesday. North Mahaska defeated Van Buren 51-28, Bedford 72-6 and Moravia 57-24.
Seven North Mahaska wrestlers went 3-0, many due to forfeits. Wyatt Van Weelden at 170 received three forfeits while Ryan Groom (106), Max Reed (182), Dawson DeBoef (152), Joel DeJong (113) and Charlie Goamaat (120) each earned two forfeits.
Against Van Buren, Groom scored a 4-0 decision over Colt Boyles. Goemaat pinned Jayden Pilcher in 1 minute 8 seconds while Gage Reis did the same to Cale Mellinger in 1:01.
Of the six contested matches against Bedford, NM went 5-1. All the matches were won by pin. Matt German at 126 pinned Caden Mann in 3:29 followed by Dylan Meland’s pin of Dalton Swartz in 5:21.
Hunter Wernli won the 138 pound match with a pin of Kase Coleman in 44 seconds. Jakob Clark (220) stuck Quentin Cavin in 1:18 and Trace Goemaat finished off Gavin Neely in 22 seconds.
DeJong pinned Moravia’s Kaleb Rebeneck in 42 seconds and Meland pinned Wyatt Hayes in 2:41. Wernli added another pin over Keeton Ellison in 1:53 and Reis pinned William Kok in 36 seconds. DeBoef pinned Noah Kok in 3:55.
Reed’s match with Cameron Nicoletto was the lone match that was not a pin. Reed and Nicolleto worked to the end before Reed scored a 7-4 decision. Trace Goemaat closed out the match with a pin of Brant Spring in 24 seconds.
