North Mahaska left little doubt of its track strength Friday winning the Bear Classic Girls Class B meet at BGM. Hanna Wernli won three individual events and Emmerson Jedlicka swept the distance races to lead NM to 174 points, 80 more than second place Sigourney.
Wernli won the long jump, 100-meters and 100-meter hurdles while Jedlicka took the 3,000 and 1,500-meter crowns. NM won eight events, seven seconds and six thirds. They doubled in four events and took first and second in the long jump and 100-meters.
Wernli and Gracie DeGeest took the top two spots in the 100 meters respectively. Wernli won in 13.76 seconds and DeGeest followed in 14.44. Wernli and Breckyn Schilling added a 1-2 finish in the long jump when Wernli jumped 14-feet, ½-inch and Schilling 13-10. Wernli added a win in the 100 hurdles in 17.84.
Jedlicka captured the 1,500 meters in 6 minutes, 13.02 seconds and the 3,000 in 12:23.18. North Mahaska added wins in the high jump when Jayden Hiner topped the bar at 4-feet, 6-inches, and the 800-meter relay team of Ava Huffman, Amber Knockel, Allie Veiseth and Alivia Schock.
Kayla Readshaw and Aly Steil picked up send and third in the 400. Readshaw finished in 1:12.65 and Steil in 1:14.77. Sydney Andersen was second in the shot with a put of 33-1 ½. Regan Grewe was third at 31-10 ½. Marissa Little took second in the discus with a throw of 83-11.
Schilling, Schock, Steil and Readshaw took second in the 1,600-meter relay in 5:12.30. and Abby Van Weelden, Veiseth, Steil and Jedlicka was send in the 3,200-meter relay in 11:53.47.
Third place went to Huffman in the 200 in 31.52 and teammate Shilling was sixth in 32.15. Steil was third in the 800 with a time of 2:53.39. Wernli was third in the 400 hurdles in 1:20.8. The final third came in the 400 relay on the legs of Ally Livezey, Knockel, Lucy Gipple and Grewe. The foursome finished in 1:01.56.
