Tri-County’s Delanie Little tossed a two-hitter Wednesday to help the Trojans to a 3-1 victory over North Mahaska. The host Warhawks had trouble moving runners around the bases and Little struck out six Warhawks.
After three scoreless innings Tri-County got on the board with a Lily Randall homer. North Mahaska answered in the bottom of the fourth inning when Kaylia Shipman walked and advanced on a pass ball and wild pitch to score.
Randall put the Trojans ahead for good in the top of the sixth with a single. Macie Schmidt’s single scored her. TC added an insurance run in the seventh.
NM coach Ashley Schroeder said her team needs to be more disciplined at the plate.
“I told them it doesn’t have to be a big hit,” said Schroeder. “I think they are going to the plate and trying to do something big every time.”
Olivia Ridgeway singled and Kayla Readshaw doubled for the Warhawks.
Regan Grewe took the loss for NM going seven innings allowing three runs on eight hits, two walks and three strikeouts.
“I thought our defense was pretty good overall,” said Schroeder.
North Mahaska will host Iowa Thursday then travel to Belle Plaine Friday.
