North Mahaska took its cross country team to North English for a run sponsored by English Valleys. NM boys were the only Warhawks to compete for a team score. Brayden Veiseth earned his second runnerup finish in a row to lead NM. Emmerson Jedlicka placed third for the girls.
Pekin dominated meet with 29 points followed by Hilcrest in second with 74 and North Mahaska scored 83.
Pekin’s Brady McWhirter took the top spot with a run of 15 minutes 47.27 seconds and Veiseth covered the distance in 16:26.01. Ben Yang scored the other top 10 finish coming in eighth in 17:36.10.
Kincaid Mitchell placed 26th in 19:47.63, Clay Thompson 29th in 20:11.24 and Maddox Wynja ran 34th in 20:58.42.
Jedlicka and Ava Huffman were the only two girls running Tuesday. Pekin’s Chloe Glosser won the varsity girls in 18:12.51. Hillcrest’s Marie Yoder finished in 19:18.80 and Jedlicka posted a time of 20:07.81. Huffman ran 27th in 24:39.07.
All three junior high girls finished in the top 12. Jade DeBoef paced the Warhawks with a fifth place finish. Trinity McKee was seventh and Addelynn Jedlicka was 12th.
Cain Grandia was the lone junior high male to run finishing 23rd overall. No times were listed for the junior high runners.
