North Mahaska took advantage of more than 30 turnovers to roll past Belle Plaine 65-13. The Warhawks kept its South Iowa Cedar League perfect recording 29 steals and limiting the Plainsmen to just six field goals.
It was a slow start for the No. 9 team in Class 2A as North Mahaska led just 7-4 after one period then exploded for 27 points in the second while limiting Belle Plaine to a free throw. The Plainsmen failed to score in the third period as the NM forced a continuous clock.
North Mahaska, 8-1 overall and 6-0 in SICL play, dominated the boards with 28 and recorded just seven turnovers.
Breckyn Schilling led North Mahaska in scoring with 24 points. She also led in steals with seven. Sydney Andersen scored nine while Kayla Readshaw, Peyton Sanders and Carly Lake chipped in seven points apiece. Regan Grewe and Readshaw each pulled down five rebounds. Grewe was credited with six steals and three assists.
Lacie Rethman led Belle Plaine, (1-8) with five points.
North Mahaska will play at Sigourney (6-2) Thursday.
