North Mahaska’s wrestling team swept through the competition at Moravia Tuesday defeating Moravia 57-15, Wayne 3925 and Centerville 46-33. Five Warhawks went 3-0 on the night with Hunter Wernli at 144 pounds, Max Reed at 175 and Joel DeJong at 126, taking all three by pin.
Wernli pinned Lucas Phillips of Centerville in 1 minute 4 seconds at 144 pounds, He followed that up with a pin of Lane Ogden of Wayne in 40 seconds. His third win came on a pin of William Kok of Moravia in 1:07.
Reed pinned Centerville’s Vincent Sheston in 3:31, Lane Kool of Moravia in 2:56, and Colby Holbrook of Wayne in 4:45.
DeJong put Adrian Short on his back in 1:09 in the Centerville match. Moravia’s Tripp VanZante fell in 1:25 and DeJong pinned Trey Goretske in 1:45.
Ryan Groom went 3-0 on the night with a forfeit against Centerville at 132 pounds, a pin of Moravia’s Aiden Kelly in 3:07 and scoring a 5-3 decision of Wayne’s Tully Wood 5-3.
Cole Wernli at 138 scored a major decision over Centerville’s Hayden Bratz, 12-2. He pinned Moravia’s Jesse Myhr in 1:25 and finished his night with a pin of Thor Mitteness in 1:24.
At 120 pounds Charlie Goemaat pinned Moravia’s Clayton Robinson of Moravia in 2:36. He received a forfeit from Wayne.
Austin McMahan added a pair of wins at 190. He pinned Moravia’s Cameron Nicollet in 3:31 received a forfeit against Wayne.
Angello Wittenburg went 2-0 at 157 pounds with a pin of Moravia’s Blake Ewing in 1:47 and picked up a forfeit.
Will Goemaat picked up forfeits against Centerville and Moravia at 215. Gage Reis won by forfeit at 150 pounds versus Centerville and Dallas Langman decisioned Moravia’s Luke Mcdaniel 7-0.
Saturday, North Mahaska heads to WACO for the WACO Invitational.
