North Mahaska boys ran to five firsts and doubled in four events to capture second at the Ike Ryan Relays this past Thursday. The Warhawks tallied 142.5 points. Iowa Valley won the relays with 179.
Three of the events in which North Mahaska earned first were also able to add another placement. Andy Knockel and Chance Angle had the best finishes of the night going one-two in the 200 meters. Knockel won in 22.67 seconds and Angle ran 24.29.
Lucas Nunnikhoven and Tyson Ferguson grabbed first and third in the 400 hurdles. Nunnikhoven finished in 58.75 while Ferguson ran 1:06.56.
Brayden Veiseth took first in the 1,600 meters in 4:44.56 while Axl Patterson finished in 5:36.25 for fifth. The other double came when Dallas Langman and Ash Arthur went 4-5 in the 400 meters. Langman crossed the line in 1:01.86 and Arthur in 1:01.92.
NM placed first in the 3,200-meter relay in 9:02.03 and distance medley in 4:01.38. No runners’ names were available. The 800-meter relay was second in 1:41.34 and the 1,600-meter relay finished in 3:39.48.
Nunnikhoven earned a second in the long jump with a leap of 19-feet 8.5-inches. Nate Sampson placed fourth with a leap of 17-7. In the high jump, Asher DeBoef tied for third with HLV’s Sean McCulloch at 5-2.
Patterson earned third in the 3,200 in 12:30.69. The shuttle hurdle team also earned third in 1:12.25. The 400-meter relay team took fourth in 48.58.
Gage Reis took fifth in the 100 in 12.01 and Max Reed was fifth in the 110 hurdles at 18.08.
The Warhawks will run at Pekin on Monday.
