NORTH ENGLISH – North Mahaska boys’ cross country team continues to perform well. In a meet with multiple higher classification schools, the Warhawks placed second to the top-ranked Davis County Mustangs. Davis County won the meet with 32 points with North Mahaska in second with 49. Wilton was a distant third with 72 points.
Lane Harmon, Nate Sampson and Anthony Goemaat paced the Warhawks placing 6-8 respectively. Harmon was sixth in 19 minutes 27.88 seconds followed by Sampson in 19:39.91 and Goemaat in 19:40.68. Grant Smith placed 19th in 21:16.22 and Brayden Veiseth rounded out the team scoring in 21st in 21:28.36.
Participating, but not scoring included Andy Knockel in 23:15.76; Brady Sterling in 24:05.56; Garrett Lamb in 24:50.42 and Beau Simmons, 27:29.65.
North Mahaska girls placed third in the five-team race. Davis County girls won with 20 points followed by BGM with 58 and the Warhawks with 80.
Natalie LaRue led the Warhawks placing eighth in 24:06.24. Addison Schilling placed 25th in 26:46.17; Adda Boysen ran 37th in 29:59.79; Claira Bacon was 38th in 30:32.38; and Kelsey Comstock in 40th, 30:42.
The Warhawks run at Lynnville-Sully Sept. 17.
