North Mahaska did nothing to damage its No. 14 ranking in Class 1A when they hosted South Iowa Cedar League foe Belle Plaine Thursday. The contest was a makeup game from this past Friday. North Mahaska rang in 24 points in the first quarter and added 22 in the second while the defense limited the Plainesmen to just 16 first half points. North Mahaska went on to post a 72-31 victory.
Three girls reached double figures in scoring. Senior Madison McKay, behind five 3-pointers, led with 21 points. Breanna Fogle chipped in 16 and Layla Hargis added 14. Hargis also led a strong rebounding effort with 17. Addie Schilling pulled down 13 boards including eight on the offensive end and added seven points.
North Mahaska record 21 steals and 21 assists in the contest while turning the ball over 13 times. Schilling and Hargis each blocked two shots. Schilling led in assists with seven and Fogle led in steals with six.
North Mahaska (9-2, 8-2) plays its third game this week when they travel to HLV for another SICL tilt.
