North Mahaska’s wrestling team took to the road Thursday for a triangular at Baxter and came away with three dual wins. North Mahaska topped host Baxter, 41-36; defeated English Valleys/Tri-County, 46-18; and defeated Collins-Maxwell, 42-24.
Five wrestlers went 3-0 on the night. Matthew German at 106 earned pins over Zach Haus of Collins-Maxwell in 2 minutes 26 seconds and Dominic Garringer from English Valleys/Tri-County in 57 seconds. He had a forfeit against Baxter.
Michael DeJong had a forfeit then scored a major decision over Joshua Osborn of English Valleys/Tri-County 13-1 then scored a technical fall over Baxter’s Brad Mathews in 4:32 with the score 15-0. Noah Jedlicka also won two matches by fall. He pinned EV/TC’s Luke Moore in 1:11 and Baxter’s Cory Samson in 3:33. His other win came as a forfeit.
Hayden Jones, wrestling at 195 and 220, also earned three wins. He had a pair of forfeits at 195 and pinned Dillon Kapple of EV/TC in 1:52.
Trace Goemaat had just one contested match as he pinned Baxter’s Aiden McFadden in 2:38 to also finish 3-0 on the night.
Paul DeJong finished 2-1 on the night with a forfeit and pin of Cole Smith of Baxter in 1:21. Austin McMahan earned a pin 1t 152 with a fall over Omar Guillen of EV/TC in 2:33.
