North Mahaska picked up three victories, one individual and two relays, to gain fourth at the Ruth Ahrens Relays for boys at Iowa Valley April 13. Belle Plaine and HLV took the top two spots with 110.5 and 105.5. NM finished with 75 points.
Lane Harmon captured the Warhawks’ only individual win in taking the 400 meters in 58.88 seconds easily outdistancing second place Brody Hoyt of Iowa Valley by four seconds.
Grant Smith, Harmon, Matthew Goemaat and Sean Knockel won the 1,600-meter relay in 3:41.91. Smith, Knockel and Goemaat hooked up with Dylan Klinker to take first in the sprint medley in 1:39.98.
Klinker and Smith picked up second and fourth in the 200 respectively. Klinker ran the distance in. 24.56 while Smith finished in 25.48. Smith added a runnerup in the long jump with a leap of 19-feet 1.75-inches.
North Mahaska added another double score in the 800 meters. Anthony Goemaat ran third in 2:20.25 and Brayden Veiseth was sixth in 2:30.36.
