North Mahaska girls track team did not win an event but picked up six silvers to finish second at Sigourney Tuesday. Pekin ran away with the team title with 169 points. North Mahaska scored 69 to finish second with Cardinal in third with 60. The meet was an opportunity for the Warhawks to run against three teams (BGM, HLV and Tri-County) that will be part of the team’s district meet at Belle Plaine, and eight others from the district at WACO.
For the first meet this season North Mahaska did not have an event in which two participants scored. Addie Schilling picked up a runner-up spot in the high jump going over the bar at 4-foot 8-inches. She was second in the 800 in 2 minutes 42.8 seconds.
Lexie Van Utrecht collected 12 individual points with a second in the 400 meters in 1:09 and a fourth in the 200 meters in 30.2. Zoe Deucore picked up an individual second in the 100 hurdles in 17.3.
North Mahaska ran second in the 1,600-meter relay in 4:29.2. They added a tie for third with Winfield-Mount Union in the shuttle hurdles in 11:16.7 and placed third in the distance medley in 5:04.10. Results did not list runners for the relays.
North Mahaska will return to action Tuesday when they make a return trip to Sigourney for the South Iowa Cedar League track championships.
