North Mahaska’s volleyball team split two South Iowa Cedar League victories Monday and Tuesday. The Warhawks went on the road to Victor Monday night and came home with a 3-0 win. Tuesday was not as productive as they fell at Colfax-Mingo 3-0.
North Mahaska (11-10) topped HLV 25-23, 27-25 and 25-21. Layla Hargis and Carlie Scholtus led the offense with six and five kills respectively. Many of those kills came off assists from Kaitlyn VanDonslaar who had eight. Morgan Hudson was credited with five assists.
Hargis had the lone block for NM. The Warhawks scored seven aces, half of them from Jalayna Shipley. Zoe Deucore had 18 digs and VanDonselaar and Shipley each had six.
In Tuesday’s contest, Hargis had nine kills and Scholtus had four. VanDonselaar had 11 assists and Hudson recorded six. Lexi Van Utrecht had two blocks. Caitlin Sanders recorded six aces on 15-of-16 serving. Deucore led the Warhawks in digs with 27. Scholtus had eight, Hargis six and Sanders and Shipley with five.
