North Mahaska boys cross country team picked up second and the junior high girls scored a first at the Montezuma Invitational Oct. 7, held at Big Springs Shooting Complex. South Tama won the meet with 32 points followed by North Mahaska with 52.
English Valleys was fourth with 93 points.
In the girl’s junior high race, North Mahaska outdistanced second place Colins-Maxwell 18-27 to win the team title.
North Mahaska had three boys place in the top 10 led by Lane Harmon in sixth with a time of 18 minutes 58 seconds. Brayden Veiseth was right behind in 18:59. Nate Sampson rounded out the top 10 in ninth with a time of 19:13. Asher DeBoef took 13th in 19:48 and Ben Yang ran 17th in 20:11. Running, but not scoring were, Andy Knockel (21:23) and Kincaid Mitchell (22:12).
North Mahaska scored all four runners in the top seven. Aly Steil was the runnerup in the junior high race in 13:22. Emmerson Jedlicka ran fourth in 14:19, Nataliya Linder fifth in 14:37 and Allie Veiseth was seventh in 15:02. Rounding out the NM lineup was
Aly Mohr in 16:04 and Addison Falb in 29th with a time of 18:24.
North Mahaska had two junior high boys compete with Maddox Wynja taking 14th in 14:03 and Larry Mohr in 27th in 17:56.
