IOWA CITY – North Mahaska boys saw their golf season come to an end Monday at Pleasant Valley Golf Course in Iowa City in the Class 1A district tournament. The Warhawks shot a 392 to place sixth in the 11-team field. South Iowa cedar League foe English Valleys topped the field to advance to state with a 370. They edged Earlham and Wapello by three strokes.
North Mahaska had advanced to the state qualifier after winning sectionals at their home course of Prairie Knolls. Nash Smith led the Warhawks with a 90. Brock Walkup carded a 99. Dodge Duke came in at 101 and Sam Terpstra finished at 110. Jaydyn Steil played and had a score of 124.
The tournament brought to an end the careers of three seniors. Duke, Steil and Terpstra graduated. The team will look to rebuild next season with Smith and Walkup leading the way.
