Playing conditions were not ideal when Iowa Valley travelled to New Sharon to take on North Mahaska Monday. Home field advantage may have helped the host Warhawks. North Mahaska scored five runs in the fourth to break a 3-2 deficit and went on to post a 7-4 South Iowa Cedar League win.
Each team scored in the first inning and Iowa Valley tallied twice in the top of the third to take the lead. North Mahaska (5-3) answered with a single run. The Warhawks had their big inning then held the Tigers scoreless until the top of the seventh.
Jalayna Shipley jacked a double and homerun to drive in three runs to lead North Mahaska. Zoe Deucore added a single homerun and Aly Steil added an RBI-single.
North Mahaska overcame four errors for the win. Morgan Hudson had another good night in the circle allowing four runs, three earned, on seven hits and four strikeouts.
