North Mahaska’s wrestlers took to the mat Thursday at Baxter and picked up a pair of victories. The Warhawks defeated South Iowa Cedar League foe English Valleys/Tri-county 55-30 and topped host Baxter 51-27.
Seven North Mahaska wrestlers garnered two wins. Ryan Groom pinned Cael Grove of EV/TC in 1 minutes 24 seconds at 106 pounds and received a forfeit against Baxter. At 113, Joel DeJong pinned Baxter’s Alex Dille in 1:28 and received a forfeit. Hunter Wernli took both his matches at 132 with a 7-0 decision over Deshon Anderson of EV/TC and pinned Baxter’s Ruger Kincaid in 1:14.
Gage Reis won a major decision 15-2 over Boston Roorda of EV/TC and pinned Koltin Hurd in of Baxter in 1:17. Andy Knockel scored two pins. He dropped EV/TC’s Benjamin Coffman in 4:56 and Baxter’s Jacob Hiemstra in 56 seconds.
Wyatt Van Weelden followed with a pin in 1:28 over Owen Jones of EV/TC and scored a forfeit. Trace Goemaat rounded out the double winners with a 2-0 decision over Baxter’s Aiden McFadden then received a forfeit.
Max Reed at 182 had a win with a fall of Zebidiah Lowry in 2:57. Charlie Goemaat pinned Maddox Peters of Baxter in 1:18 and Dylan Meland pinned EV/TC’s Cael Mihal in 4:34.
