North Mahaska turned the ball over an unusual 20 times but collected 22 steals and 36 rebounds in a 62-33 win over HLV Friday. Sophomore Breckyn Schilling had a strong showing pouring in 26 points.
First quarters have been big in many of the Warhawk wins this season, but HLV was able to keep it close with NM leading 14-10. The Warhawks were able to extend the lead to 26-15 by halftime. The third quarter was the big one for NM as they outscored HLV 20-8.
Schilling hit for 26 points. Grabbed eight rebounds, eight steals, four blocked shots and doled out three assists. Regan Grewe and Kayla Readshaw each hit for eight points apiece. Grewe was credited with seven rebounds and four steals. Libby Hargis chipped in seven points and Jessica Castaneda had six.
No. 12 North Mahaska (15-1, 11-0) hosts BGM (2-14, 2-9) Tuesday then travels to Lynnville-Sully (12-5, 9-3) Friday.
