Kieren Perez dashes past the finish in the 60-meter hurdles for the win at the South Iowa Cedar League indoor meet at Grinnell Monday.
North Mahaska boys and girls competed at the South Iowa Cedar League indoor track meet at Grinnell College on Monday. No team scores were kept but the Nm girls posted five wins and three second place finishes while the boys tallied three runnerup spots.
All the girls’ wins came in individual events. Kieren Perez posted the first win of the day taking the 60-meter hurdles in 10.49 seconds. Nataliya Linder won the long jump with a leap of 15-feet 5-inches. Emmerson Jedlicka captured the title in the 1,500 in 5:26.30. Kayla Readshaw dashed to the title in the 400 meters in 1:06.72 and Aly Steil won the 800 in 2:41.91
Sydney Andersen earned a runnerup spot in the shot put with a throw of 34-6. The other two seconds came in the relays.
North Mahaska’s 3,200-meter relay team of Jedlicka, Abby Van Weelden, Ava Huffman and Steil finished in 11:07.88. Steil, Alivia Schock, Linder and Readshaw completed the 1,600-meter relay in 4:29.17.
Asher DeBoef took second in the 400 meters in 56.01 and Brayden Veiseth was second in the 1,600 with a time of 4:50.57. DeBoef ran the third leg of the 1,600-relay with Lucas Nunnikhoven, Ben Yang and Andy Knockel. The quartet finished in 3:41.22.
Ash Arthur leads off the NM boys’ 3,200-meter relay at the South Iowa Cedar League indoor meet at Grinnell.
The meet allowed the SICL teams to try different combinations and see where their team is as the outdoor season commences next week.
