North Mahaska’s girls had a solid night on the track at Eddyville-Blakesburg-Fremont Monday winning four relays, four individual races and a field event to take the Class B title with 162 points. Montezuma was second with 103.
Emmerson Jedlicka and Nataliya Linder helped spark the Warhawks each winning two events. Aly Steil and Jayden Linder each won an event and NM ran first in four of their six relays. Four seconds added to the total as well.
The meet, which was a two-class meet, saw the Warhawks compete against perennial track powers Pella Christian, Eddyville-Blakesburg-Fremont and Sigourney. NM’s performance outscored all teams. Another advantage was it pushed the Warhawks to faster times.
Jedlicka’s wins came in the two distance races. She won the 3,000 meters in 12 minutes .42 seconds and the 1,500 in 5:32.37. Teammate Ava Huffman added a fourth place finish in the 1,500 with a time of 5:54.
Linder topped the field in the 400 hurdles in 1:14.04 then teamed up with Breckyn Schilling in the long jump for a 1-3 finish. Linder won with a leap of 15-feet 4.25 inches and Schilling jumped 14-4.75.
Jaden Hiner tied Montezuma’s Lilly Ferry for the title in the high jump with a leap of 4-8. Ferry received the medal on the basis of a coin flip. Aly Steil added the final individual win with a 2:35.10 clocking in the 800 meters.
North Mahaska’s 800 relay team of Madeline Doonan, Allie Veiseth, Addison Terpstra and Alivia Schock placed first in 1:59.62. Schock joined Steil, Linder and Kayla Readshaw for first place in the 1,600-meter relay in 4:30.64. Abby Van Weelden, Amber Knockel, Huffman and Steil took first in the 3,200-meter relay with a time of 11:31.98.
The final first came in the sprint medley as Regan Grewe, Gracie DeGeest, Kieren Perez and Readshaw finished in 2:02.67.
Individuals earning second place finishes were Sydney Andersen in the shot with a put of 32-9.75; Perez in the 100 meters, 13.87; Terpstra in the 200, 28.44; and Readshaw in the 400, 1:05.22.
Perez took third in the 100 hurdles in 19.33. Doonan earned fourth in the 200 in 30.03 and Knockel was fifth in the 400 in 1:12.50.
North Mahaska’s distance medley team of DeGeest, Veiseth, Schilling and Van Weelden were fourth in 5:33.24 and the 400 relay team of Marissa Little, Falynn Rivera, Anna DeBruin and Peyton Sanders was fourth in 1:02.17.
The team is scheduled to run at BGM on Friday.
