Despite rains that dampened central Iowa throughout the day Thursday, North Mahaska’s track teams were able to run, jump and throw at the Newton Coe-ed meet. The boys notched a third place finish while the girls finished fourth.

Senior Brayden Veiseth picked up two individual wins and anchored the winning 3,200-meter relay to lead the boys while sophomore Emmerson Jedlicka picked up the girls’ two first place finishes.

Veiseth won the 800 meters in 2 minutes 4.29 seconds with teammate Dallas Langman adding an eighth place in 2:22.81.

Veiseth took the 1,600-meters in 4:49.43 with Axle Patterson adding an eighth place in 5:32.26. The 3,200-meter relay team of Asher DeBoef, Nate Sampson, Ben Yang and Veiseth finished in 8:36.26.

DeBoef and Yang finished first and fourth in the 400 meters. DeBoef took the top spot in 54.35 seconds and Yang in 55.94. NM’s other first came in the distance medley in 3:54.55. Lucas Nunnikhoven led with Chance Angle, Kaleb Stout and Sampson anchoring.

NM added a double in the 200 meters when Isaac Knockel took third in 22.94 and William Cox was fifth in 25.63.Max Reed was fourth in the 110 hurdles in 18.24. Patterson and Ash Arthur picked up the double in the 3,200 meters. Patterson was fourth in 12:13.20 and Arthur sixth in 12:52.21.

Hunter Wernli, Gage Reis, Dylan Meland and Reed placed fourth in the 800-meter relay in 1:4.08. Reed, Meland, Clay Thompson and Tyson Ferguson was fourth in the shuttle hurdle relay with a time of 1:15.80. Nunnikhoven, Sampson, Kaleb Stout and Knockel were fourth in the 1,600-meter relay in 4:07.25.

The 400-meter relay team of Wernli, Reis, Meland and Angle finished fifth in 48.65. Ferguson placed fifth in the long jump with a leap of 17-feet 6-inches. Meland had a jump of 15-9.

Ferguson was sixth in the 400 hurdles in 1:05.34 and Cox ran eighth in the 100 in 12.65.

Jedlicka won the two distance races taking the 3,000 meters in 11:30.80 and the 1,500 in 5:26.70.

Sydney Andersen was second in the shot with a put of 44-4.5 and Libby Hargis had a toss of 27-9.5. Marissa Little added a runnerup spot in the discus with a throw of 87-2 and Anna DeBruin threw 78-0. Jayden Hiner was third in the high jump with a leap of 4-8.

Amber Knockel, Allie Veiseth, Ava Huffman and Abby Van Weelden was third in the distance medley in 4:51.12.

Huffman and Van Weelden doubled in the 800 meters. Huffman finished fourth in 2:42.55 and Van Weelden was eighth in 2:49.06. Addison Dickerson, Veiseth, DeBruin and Knockel took fifth in the 800 relay in 2:11.73.

Dickerson, Ashlynn Kirk, DeBruin and Peyton Sanders took sixth in the 400-meter relay in 1:03.22. Van Weelden was sixth in the long jump with a leap of 13-10.
