North Mahaska took to the fields at Lacey Complex in Oskaloosa Saturday for a pair of softball games. They opened with a loss to perennial South Central Conference power Eddyville-Blakesburg-Fremont and fell 9-5. They faced No. 13 in Class 3A Albia and lost 11-3.
Leading 1-0 entering the bottom of the second inning, North Mahaska saw EBF put up six runs. The Warhawks came back with a run in the third and three in the fourth to cut the game to 6-5 but EBF held NM scoreless and added two runs in the fourth and another in the fifth to seal the win.
Regan Grewe hit a single and double with an RBI and Kayla Readshaw hit a pair of singles and stole two bases. Madeline Doonan and Lydia Howell each had RBI singles.
Jocelyn Pinkerton pitched 4 1/3 innings allowing seven runs on eight hits. Ridgeway allowed two runs on two hits and a walk and Grewe allowed two hits and a walk.
In game two Grewe continued her strong hitting driving in two runs on a homerun. Doonan Doubled and Ridgeway singled for the only NM hits against Albia.
Pinkerton and Grewe pitched for the Warhawks allowing 11 runs on 14 hits a hit batsman, two walks and a strikeout.
Albia took advantage of 15 stolen bases and scored three runs in the second inning and four more to in the fifth to keep the Warhawks at bay.
North Mahaska hosts Keota and Grand View Christian Monday in a doubleheader.
