It took four innings for the North Mahaska baseball team to find home plate but once they did the Warhawks did not stop. The Warhawks scored three runs on the top of the fourth and fifth innings, added another in the sixth and insured victory with six in the seventh. End result: North Mahaska 13, English Valleys 0.
English Valleys (0-9) in the throes of a winless season and North Mahaska kept them with zeroes in the loss column. North Mahaska pounded out 12 hits, took advantage of 10 free passes and stole 12 bases in the contest.
Nolan Andersen hit a homerun with two RBI and Dane Van Mersbergen hit a single with two RBI. Lucas Nunnikhoven ripped three singles with an RBI and stole three bases. Ryan Groom stroked a pair of singles with an RBI and stole two bases. Nate Sampson hit an RBI double and stole two bases.
Andersen helped his on cause on the mound. He went five innings scattering five hits with seven strikeouts. Sampson tossed the final two frames with a pair of walks and five strikeouts.
Myles Grove took the loss for EV allowing seven runs on three hits, six walks and four strikeouts.
North Mahaska (7-7) hosts Sigourney on Wednesday and travels to Montezuma Friday.
