North Mahaska’s cross country teams took to the course at Gateway recreation in Monroe Monday for junior and senior high girls and high school boys. None of the teams had enough for team scores but three of the nine runners finished in the top 12 overall.
Emmerson Jedlicka and Ava Huffman powered the high school girls with a fifth and eighth place finish. Woodward-Granger’s Eva Fleshner on the meet in 20 minutes 25.50 seconds. Jedlicka charted a 21:26.50 and Huffman finished in 22:12. Amber Knockel came in 44th in 25:57.10.
The meet consisted of teams from the Des Moines metro area and covered all four classes of schools.
Axle Patterson led the North Mahaska quartet of boys finishing in 29th overall in 20:36.30. Sawyer Meinders of Pella Christian took the top spot in 17:39.70.
Kincaid Mitchell was on the heels of Patterson taking 31st in 20:39.6. Cain Grandia was 77th in 23:49.10 and William Cox posted a 29:31.60.
Jade DeBoef took the 12th spot in the junior high girl’s race posting a 13:50. 2. Mallory Schippers was 42nd of 60 runners in 18:09.50.
