Notch two more dual wins in the belt of the North Mahaska wrestling team. The boys came out defeating South Iowa Cedar League foe BGM 53-20 and Class 3A Knoxville 54-30.

Gage Ries went 2-0 on the bight earning a technical fall over BGM’s Izaha Thompson in the first match of the night, then pinned Knoxville’s Cutter Smith in 43 seconds. Max Reed at 175, Nolan Schock at 190 and Joel DeJong at 138 all earned forfeits in both matches.

Ryan Groom had a forfeit then pinned Knoxville’s Gavin Alexander in 1 minute 15 seconds. Cooper Sampson had a forfeit and stuck Dawson Gullion of Knoxville in 27 seconds. At 215, Chance Angle pinned BGM’s Reed Slater in 2:56. North

Mahaska’s depth was a key factor. They had just one open weight while BGM listed six and Knoxville three.

North Mahaska has three events coming up before district competition. They are on the road Saturday at the Rich Gray Wrestling Invitational then competes in the SICL tournament at Sigourney on Saturday, Feb. 1. They close the regular season at Moravia on Monday, Feb. 3.
