Sigourney senior Josephine Moore was too much from the circle and at the plate Wednesday night and helped the No. 15 Savages to a 10-2 South Iowa Cedar League win. Moore struck out nine batters and smashed two homeruns to drive in six runs.
The bad part of Moore’s game was the seven walks she issued, however, that is how many runners North Mahaska left stranded as they were unable to move runners around. The Warhawks were limited to four singles in the contest.
North Mahaska pitchers, senior Regan Grewe and sophomore Jolan Fogle, each surrendered a long ball to Moore. Grewe tossed the first 2 1/3 innings allowing six runs on eight hits and a strikeout. Fogle gave up four runs on two hits and a strikeout.
The first four batters North Mahaska faced hit singles. Moore’s RBI-single scored one then she came in on a flyout. NM set the Savages down in order in the second inning but in the top of the third Sigourney put up four runs, two coming off Moore’s first homer.
