For the second game in a row North Mahaska had the bats alive only this time they came away with the victory. The Warhawks pounded out 13 runs on 11 hits to top Colfax-Mingo 13-1 Thursday. North Mahaska also took advantage of eight free bases.
NM scored two runs in each of the first two innings. And added another in the top of the third inning for a 5-1 lead. In the top of the fifth NM exploded for eight runs.
Jack Kelderman picked up the mound victory allowing a run on two hits, three walks and eight strikeouts. He helped his own cause at the plate with a pair of RBI.
Luke Boender had three hits to drive in two runs and Dan Van Mersbergen added a pair of hits with two runs. Hunter Wernli and Lucas Nunnikhoven each stole two bases for the Warhawks.
Ayden Sloan and Alex Teed each singled for the Tigerhawks. Here pitchers combined for 12 hits, six walks and three strikeouts.
North Mahaska faces Pella Christian at the EBF tournament Saturday at 12:30 p.m. They will host English Valleys on Monday.
