North Mahaska managed just one hit but it was enough to earn the Warhawks a narrow 2-1 victory over Keota Wednesday. Warhawk pitcher Jaxn VanDerVeer limited Keota to two hits to earn the victory. He struck out seven and walked two.

Keota scored a run in the top of the third inning and held the lead until the bottom of the sixth. Jack Kelderman and Lucas Nunnikhoven walked and when Luke Boender hit a dribbler down the line the Eagles thought it would roll foul and North Mahaska was able to capitalize and score the runs.

“We only had one hit but it won the game,” said NM coach Kevin Kelderman. “It was crazy way to win.”

Nunnikhoven recorded two stolen bases and Kelderman added another for the Warhawks.

North Mahaska, 8-6, heads to No. 8 Lynnville-Sully Thursday then hosts HLV/Tri-County Friday.
