North Mahaska’s Kaylia Shipman garnered three hits and drove in four runs to lead the Warhawks past their rivals Lynnville-Sully, 14-6. Shepman aided a 10-run first inning drilling a homerun to drive in two runs on the first inning.
Shipman added two singles with an RBI on each one. She batted twice in the first inning North Mahaska pounded out 15 hits in the game which resulted in 11 RBI. The contest was plagued with errors as the team combined for 15 miscues. Lynnville-Sully committed eight while NM had seven.
After the first inning outburst, the Hawks held NM to a run in the third, two in the fourth and a run in the fifth before the game ended on the eight-run rule. NM led 13-2 entering the bottom of the fourth. The Hawks then scored four times to keep the game ending by 10 runs. The Warhawks added the winning run in the top of the fifth and the defense held in the bottom of the inning to end the game.
Jolan Fogle earned the win for North Mahaska. The pitcher gave up six hits and six runs (zero earned) over five innings, striking out one and walking two. Kate Harthoorn took the loss for Lynnville-Sully. She went five innings, allowing 14 runs (five earned) on 15 hits, striking out none and walking one.
Shipman and Doonan were a force together in the lineup, as they each collected three hits. Grewe, Olivia Ridgeway, Addie Falb, and Fogle each collected multiple hits. Shipman and Falb each stole multiple bases as North Mahaska stole nine bases in the contest.
Jakeria Hay led Lynnville-Sully (6-9) with three runs batted in. The cleanup hitter went 2-for-2 on the day. Hay and Alaina Roberts each collected two hits.
North Mahaska, 15-2, will play at home on Friday against the HLV/Tri-County Warriors.
