North Mahaska and GMG squared off on the turf of Duane Banks Field on the campus of the University of Iowa on Tuesday. North Mahaska outhit the Wolverines 12-11 to score a 9-4 victory in the final regular season game for the Warhawks.

GMG scored single runs in each of the first two innings while North Mahaska tallied two in each for the early 4-2 lead. NM would tack on three in the fourth and two more in the bottom of the sixth. GMG added a pair in the top of the seventh.

Jack Kelderman and Dane Van Mersbergen each hit a single and triple to lead North Mahaska. Ryan Groom and Van Mersbergen each recorded two RBI. Hunter Wernli hit two singles. On the bases the Warhawks stole five bases on six attempts. Groom led with two swipes.

Kelderman took the mound for the Warhawks going 3 1/3 innings allowing two runs on five hits, two walks with five strikeouts. Rylan Spray tossed the final 3 2/3 innings with two runs on five hits with a walk and a strikeout.

Joaquin Willias led GMG with three singles and an RBI. Ethan Klemesrud took the loss for GMG, but no stats were available.

North Mahaska, 12-9, will open Class 1A district play Saturday against Mormon Trail in New Sharon at 7 p.m. Twin Cedars and Moulton-Udell will play at North Mahaska at 5 p.m.
