Kindergarten round up for children entering kindergarten this fall has been scheduled to run simultaneously with the Kindergarten GAP Program (a transition program for all incoming kindergarteners) on May 25th, 26th and 27th from 8:30am-11:30am at North Mahaska Elementary School. If your child is 5 years of age on or before September 15, 2021 he/she may enter kindergarten this fall. When students enter for Kindergarten round up, the early childhood staff will be available to greet your child and help with transitioning your child into the kindergarten room for a fun-filled morning.
Students who currently attend the morning session of preschool will report to Mrs. DeBoef’s room on May 25th, 26th, and 27th from 8:30am 11:30am for kindergarten round up and the GAP Program.
Students who are in the afternoon session of four year old preschool will report to Mrs. Denburger’s room on May 25th, 26th, and 27th from 8:30am to 11:30am for kindergarten round up and the GAP Program.
Kindergarten class lists will be determined at a later date and parents will be notified during the summer. Transportation to kindergarten round up / kindergarten GAP Program will be provided for those parents requesting transportation services for their child.
A parent meeting will be held on Tuesday, April 13, from 5:00-6:00 in the High School Auditorium. Prior to the parent meeting, we will have staff available at the entrance of the auditorium starting at 4:30 p.m. to collect forms and help make copies of the requested information. Please enter the school through the High School entrance. Please note masks are required for all school functions and please social distance in the auditorium as possible.
In order to enroll your child in school, we need the following information:
- Birth Certificate (Please bring this on or before the day of roundup)
- Immunization Record
- Completed Physical Form
- Registration and Child Information Sheets
- Certificate of Dental Screening (required before kindergarten starts in August)
- Certificate of Vision Screening (required before kindergarten starts in August)
During the parent meeting, parents will be provided with an opportunity to ask questions as well as gain information on school programs, kindergarten readiness, and school procedures. A tour of the building will also be provided.
