North Mahaska’s boy’s track team faced some of its toughest competition of the season when they traveled to Monroe Thursday. Teams from Class 1A, 2A and 3A made up the field. Host PCM won with 173 points with Pleasantville in second with 145. NM scored 65.
North Mahaska topped the field in two relays and scored a runner-up spot in two. The 3,200-meter relay team of Nate Sampson, Lane Harmon, Brayden Veiseth and Anthony Goemaat covered the field in 9 minutes 21.47 seconds and Dylan Klinker, Grant Smith, Sean Knockel and Goemaat won in 4:01.22.
Klinker, Smith, Matthew Goemaat and Knockel ran second in the distance medley with a time of 1:37.75. Klinker, Smith Goemaat and Knockel were also second in the 400-meter relay in 46.14.
The best overall individual performance came from Smith in the long jump. He placed second in long jump with a leap of 19-6. Brayden Veiseth was fifth in the 1,600 meters in 5:27.17.
