North Mahaska, ranked eighth in Class 1A, scored 30 points in the first quarter and held HLV to nine on the first half enroute to a 70-23 South Iowa Cedar League victory. The win improved the Warhawks’ season record to 12-1 and 10-0 in the league.
Four Warhawks hit double figures in scoring to lead the way. Brecklyn Schilling and Layla Hargis each had 16 points and Kaitlyn
VanDonselaar and Breanna Fogle each added 10. Addie Schilling chipped in six.
North Mahaska pulled down 35 rebounds led by Regan Grewe with eight, Breckyn Schilling and Fogle each grabbed six and Hargis pulled down five. Addie Schilling had nine assists and three steals; Fogle had four assists and four steals; and Breckyn Schilling, VanDonselaar and Hargis had three steals.
HLV committed 29 turnovers, 24 of them were steals by the Warhawks.
