North Mahaska senior Brayden Veiseth outdistanced Pella Christian’s Sawyer Meinders by nine seconds to take medalist honors at the Lynnville-Sully cross country meet held at Diamond Trail Golf Course in Lynnville. Veiseth clocked a time of 17 minutes 35.2 seconds while Meinders finished in 17:44.3.
Ben Yang also finished in the top 10 for North Mahaska to help the team to a fourth place finish. Pella Christian won the meet with 32 points and Davis County was runnerup at 62 followed by host Lynnville-Sully with 107.
Yang came across the line in 19:08.4. Freshman Maddox Wynja placed 33rd in 20:32.8 and Kincaid Mitchell was 36th in 21.08.3 and Clay Thompson was 41st in 21:47.8.
Sophomore Emmerson Jedlicka continues to lead the NM girls placing seventh overall in 22:28.4. NM did not have enough runners for a team Thursday. Sophomores Alivia Schock ran 37th in 26:48.4 while Ava Huffman was 38th in 26:48.8.
In the junior high races, Jade DeBoef paced the girls with a runnerup finish in 11:14.0. Anna Luers of English Valleys won the race in 10:45.2. Addelynn Jedlicka picked up a top 10 finish in ninth with a time of 12:57.6. Mallory Schippers placed 29th in 16:18.4.
Cain Grandia is the sole male junior high runner and earned a 23rd place finish in 13:09.2.
North Mahaska will run Monday at Monroe in a meet hosted by PCM.
