North Mahaska boys placed seventh and the girls ran 10th at the highly-competitive Williamsburg Invitational cross country meet Sept. 28. The meet had schools from 1A to Class 4A.
Danville-New London won the meet at 53 points and Solon was second with 65. North Mahaska finished with 194 points.
Anthony Goemaat paced North Mahaska with a 30th place finish in 19 minutes 13.52 seconds. Asher DeBoef was 38th in 19:46.22 followed by Nate Sampson in 19:51.43. Brayden Veiseth and Lane Harmon rounded out the scoring placing 43rd and 44th respectively. Veiseth covered the distance in 20:17.39 and Harmon in 20:20.68. Also running were Ben Yang in 20:29.79 and Andy Knockel 22:26.25.
North Mahaska girls placed 10th in the meet with 303 points. Solon won the meet with 27 points. North Mahaska girls were powered by Addie Schilling and members of the volleyball team. It was the first time this season Schilling was able to compete as a team. Schilling led the North Mahaska contingent with a 50th place finish in 26:46.77. Kayla Readshaw ran 60th in 30:18.41 and Lexi Van Utrecht was 63rd in 31:48.02. Regan Grewe placed 64th in 32:00.91, Alyssa Scheihing was 66th in 33:10.52 and Caitlyn Sanders was 67th in 35:15.87.
Kincaid Mitchell finished 57th overall in the junior varsity boys race in 22:33.10 and Garrett Lamb was 70th in 24:23.81.
In the middle school meet, the North Mahaska girls placed third with 77 points. They finished behind Solon with 38 and Williamsburg with 39. Aly Steil led the way taking the eighth spot with a time of 10:21.25. Nataliya Linder was 10th in 10:52.92. Emmerson Jedlicka notched a 15th place finish in 11:05.83. Allie Veiseth was 20th in 11:14.25 and Aly Mohr rounded put the scoring with a 24th place finish in 11:48.66. Addison Falb also ran taking 39th in 14:02.65.
Larry Mohr was the lone NM runner in the boy’s race. He placed 68th overall in 12:55.33.
